This past Saturday, May 6, was International Female Ride Day for lady motorcyclists across the globe. Local motorcycle apparel shop Spoke & Dagger (meet co-owner Jodi Drew right here) organized a group ride from Hertel Avenue to Broken Sprocket Garage in East Aurora — and then Buffalo weather happened. Determined not to let a dreary, treacherous ‘spring’ day ruin the entire parade, participants met directly at Broken Sprocket and got their learn on with owner/operator David Roberts, who led the class in a hands-on safety inspection of two different model bikes. Following the class, Jodi demonstrated her tried-and-true way to pack efficiently and economically for road travel and camping overnighters. Participants were treated to sushi from Yoshi Sushi and the camaraderie of spending a little QT with fellow riders.
For anyone interested in getting in on a piece of girl-riding action, stop into Spoke & Dagger ASAP and ask about next weekend’s Fox Run. It is a guaranteed do-not-miss event for women who ride (or just women who want to hang out with other super rad women in general). — KMM
