Julia Bottoms-Douglas and the Freedom Wall

The Albright-Knox Art Gallery has commissioned four artists to create the Freedom Wall, an 11 x 300 foot concrete wall surrounding the property of the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority’s Cold Spring Bus Maintenance Depot. This location also serves as the entrance to the Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor. The mural, created by Buffalo artists John Baker, Chuck Tingley, Edreys Wajed, and Julia Bottoms-Douglas, will depict 28 significant national and regional figures of the American Civil Rights Movement. Each artist will create seven works for the mural, set to be completed by the end of summer 2017. Click here to learn more about this initiative. — KMM
