SCENE: Sunday Funday with the Gals That Brunch

Oh, brunch! Has one ever divined a more perfect meal!? On Sunday, January 21, Qween City joined the Gals That Brunch for a nosh & chat at Allentown’s Billy Club. The Buffalo chapter of this nationwide group has been active since October 2017, and has since checked out the brunches of Mess Hall, Roost, and Patina 250, in addition to Billy Club.

The group’s leaders, Jill Greenberg and Katelyn Cerankosky, met via Meetup.com; shortly thereafter they embarked upon their first mimosa-fueled morning. “At the time, I was seeking out a project to fill some time while making new connections,” Katelyn said. Since then, the group has increased incrementally with each monthly brunch, to the point that a second monthly brunch may be in the works for the near future, Jill said.

Jill and Katelyn are considering expanding their meet-up and event repertoire, with a potential happy hour thrown into the mix. “Happy hours would be a good way to get the group together and for new members to meet the group in a more casual setting than a sit down brunch. Also, some of the girls have expressed interest in a ski day!,” Katelyn said.

Jill and Katelyn both agree that starting the group has been nothing but a pleasant experience – they don’t even have a horror story to tell! “For me, this has really warmed my heart,” Katelyn said. “I am not originally from Buffalo, so, at first, I was having difficulty making friends outside of work. To see so many women come to a brunch where they know no one and start to connect with one another was great to see. I’m ecstatic that the group is growing, and I get to meet so many women who bring different things to the table,” she said.
